Mongolia will host the 17th Conference of the parties of the United Nations Convention to fight desertification (COP17) in 2026. This global event will focus on desertification, degradation of the soil and drought. Mongolia, strongly affected by desertification, will promote solutions for the restoration of the land and the sustainable management of the lands. The COP17 also coincides with the international year of pastors and shepherds, underlining the importance of the sustainable management of the lands of pasture.
